When you add your hotmail to your iPhone most people add it as a pop3 account – which is type other when you choose it. This is because when you type a hotmail address in there it figures out all the server information for you – its almost as if its designed to work that way.
This approach however is wrong!
For a couple of reasons. Firstly, when you read an item on your iPhone it doesn’t show the item as read in your hotmail. Secondly, when you delete an item it doesn’t get deleted in your hotmail – which means you end up with a mail box full of trash.
Thankfully theres a way around this – all you have to do is create your hotmail account as an exchange account – which you do as follows:
